How to Run the Time Doctor Silent Application on System or Domain Administrator Accounts

This article explains how to run the Time Doctor silent application for system or domain administrator account profiles

By default, the Time Doctor silent application doesn’t run on system or domain administrator accounts logging into machines that are part of the domain.

This is because a new Time Doctor user account is created each time an administrator (domain/local) logs on to a different machine that is part of your domain and which has the Time Doctor silent application installed on it. This can result in many unwanted users in your Time Doctor company account.

If you want the Time Doctor Silent application to track the activity of system or domain administrator accounts as well when they log into any user machine on the domain, access your Company Settings page, click on Advanced on the left menu bar to jump to the bottom of the page, and enable the Run app on administrator accounts setting.

This will allow the Time Doctor silent application to create a profile for the domain administrator accounts once they log into the user machines on the domain, so you can view their reports/activity through your Time Doctor company account.

Note: This setting doesn't apply to local administrator accounts on the machine, regardless if they are part of a domain or not. If someone logs into a machine that has the silent application installed using the machine's local administrator account, it will create a user profile for that administrator under your Time Doctor company account.

You can verify if an administrator profile account created in your Time Doctor company account is a network/domain administrator or a local administrator profile by going to the Users page and clicking on the user’s name. On the right side panel, click on the tab “Info” and view the “OS User ID” field. If this ID ends with -500 or -512, it is a domain administrator account.

You can keep an eye on the number of users that get added to your Time Doctor account through the Users page. We also have a widget on the Dashboard that shows you how many users were added to your account within a selected time frame (today, yesterday, past 7 days, past 30 days)
