How to Configure macOS Permissions for the Time Doctor Desktop App

With the release of Catalina, Apple changed the way they handle system permissions for apps. In some cases, you may experience issues with the Time Doctor desktop app taking screenshots and recording web and app activity.

To make sure that the Time Doctor desktop app works correctly on the latest OS X release, perform the following steps.

For the Interactive App

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Accessibility and check the box next to Time Doctor.
  5. Select Screen Recording and check the box next to Time Doctor.

For the Silent App

For Versions 3.3.12 and Later

These steps only apply to users who are currently using 3.3.12 and later.

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Accessibility and check the box next to SFProc.
  5. Select Screen Recording and check the box next to SFProc.

Additional Note:

  1. Screen recording permission is also needed for the Web & App Usage report to work, even if screenshots are disabled for the user.
  2. For versions 3.3.11 and earlier, the app is called env instead of SFProc in the System Preferences.
